I recently spray painted my car with a urethane base/clear. How can I remove the severe orange peel?
I read a book and watched videos on painting cars, but i still have a terrible orange peel on the top coat of clear. Can I buff this out, or wet sand it? Was this a problem with my gun/spraying? I tried many different methods and settings and still have the same problem. Also, how long after i painted it should i wait to sand/ polish. Oh and what kind of polish/rubbing compound should I use. Thanks.
You can either wet sand or DA the peel out. DA is a little quicker than wet sanding. I usually go over the orange peel with 1200 grit sand paper and then go over it with 3000 grit trizac wet 3M DA sand paper. You’ll want to get an extra cut, regular cut, and glaze compounds for buffing the shine back. Be careful not to burn through the clear coat though.
