Venetian lagoon is probably one of the most fascinating spot of Italy, not only for the beautiful city
of Venice, but also for the amazing islands that sorroundings this area.
In fact Venetian lagoon do not include only the amazing city of Venice, but also the islands of
Sant’Erasmo, Giudecca, Mazzorbo, Torcello, Burano, Tronchetto, Murano and so on.
Every island have a different tradition and folklore and, for example, Burano is famous for its
painted houses and for the lacemakers women. This tradition of the island was began during 16th
century. Today Burano export lace across the World. Another example of Venetian lagoon tradition
is the island of Murano, famous for handcrafts glass such as vases, cups, chalices and tumblers,
candlesticks, cornucopie, jewels and so on.
For this reasons Venetian lagoon is the ideal location to made the Venice Biennale, one of the
major contemporary art exhibition in the world.
The island that have the biggest impact on art and cinema is maybe Murano, where the ancient art
of blowing glass and vases production has not changed during the centuries. Nowadays there
are not new techniques to make the special glass of Murano: the result depends most of all on the
expertise and the artistic skills of the glass artisan.
The fascinating Murano glass it’s mostly used in movies set. The actor and actress use frequently

the abstracts figures like lovers are really diffused over the world.
But the contemporary artists, with this precious material, do not made only abstract sculptures,
they made also useful things like decorated tables, lamps, mirrors, and so on.
Now you know that murano glass is really precious in different kind of art, fine arts, applied arts,
decorative arts, and sure in cinema and theatre.
